Sunday is known to be a special day for Christians.
Yes, it is. Christians spend the day either serving the Lord or helping the less privileged in the society as their businesses remain closed.
Some people have negative feelings and notions on Kamba land. Several Kenyans who haven't lived in Ukambani region might think that Sunday has got no significance to the locals.
To dispel the notion, here are the things Kambas engage in on Sunday:
1. Converge in church
Machakos County has several churches especially in Kathemboni and Katoloni areas. Most Kenyans, not only from the Ukambani region but across the country visit churches in Machakos County. The worship areas are ideal for Christians since they spend their Sundays there praying and seeking forgiveness from God. Locals also visit the churches to thank God for good health, care, protection and ask Him for long life, just to mention but a few.
"People should stop the witchcraft notion. We are holly and actually serve our God," resident Nicole Ndanu said.
Ndanu spoke to this writer on her way to Bomani AIC church in Machakos town on Sunday.
2. Visiting the sick and less fortune in society
Kambas don't take Sundays for granted. Most of the locals visit the less fortunate in the society and offer them support both material and immaterial.
Majority of Kambas are loving, caring and have good heart, they like supporting the vulnerable or needy persons in the society.
"As Machakos University Christian Union, we sometimes visit the sick and shower them with small gifts we can afford," student Bernard Mutuku said.
