A 33-year-old man was on Thursday night attacked by unknown people who allegedly sodomised him before killing him.
Residents of Gatura village in Elburgon, Molo constituency, called on the police to bring to book the killers.
Residents said the body, which was dumped at a thicket along Ndimu-Mwatu road, had 'signs of being sodomised'.
The incident left residents in shock coming a week after they held demonstrations over increased insecurity.
Area chief Bethwel Kibe confirmed the incident.
“The deceased body was discovered by passersby in the morning at around 9am as they were on their way to attend to their day to day activities,” said Kibe.
Patrick Kanyi, who was among the first to arrive at the scene, reported the matter to Elburgon police station.
The body was taken to Elburgon sub-county hospital awaiting a postmortem analysis.
Area ssistant county commissioner, Naftali Korir called on residents to assist the police with investigations.
"I call upon the locals to assist the police in bringing the culprits to book by sharing any useful information as this will go a long way in addressing security concerns,” he said.
On Tuesday, business came to a standstill for about two hours after angry residents barricaded the Njoro-Molo road at Kamwaura area protesting soaring insecurity.
