5 youths who have been giving the residents sleepless nights were arrested with stolen electricity wires in a crackdown that was done in Birongo area in Nyaribari Chache Constituency Kisii county.
According to the area chief Mr Kefa Omai, they received a tip from residents who have been complaining for a while now where he and Police officers from Birongo Police station staged a crackdown and managed to arrest the Five youths with electric wires suspected to have been stolen from different parts of Birongo.
"We received information from the public that some boys have been stealing electric wires. I and Police officers from Birongo we went ahead to investigate the reports and staged a crackdown where we managed to arrest the five young men who have been terrorizing the residents," He said.
This comes after the area has been experiencing power blackout in the recent past a move that has led to a lack of enough security in the area and the surrounding parts.
Chief also cautioned the youth to be careful and avoid engaging in such activities especially in this season when schools are closed and form 4 candidates are at home after their national examination.
The five are in Birongo Police custody awaiting to be charged in court on Monday.
