AFC Leopards will be punished by the Sports Stadia management after they vandalized seats during their 2-0 loss to Gor Mahia.
The Ingwe fans forced the match to be halted for a whole seven minutes after the champions scored their second goal, which ideally gave them the win.
The fans were protesting a decision by the referee not to award a foul after one of the AFC players was fouled a few seconds before Gor scored the second goal.
Speaking on Sunday, Sports Stadia PRO Rakki Assman said they plan to take action against the hooligans.
“Yes, I witnessed everything and drastic action will definitely be taken. We are still assessing and they have to pay for the damages...even a ban might apply,” said the officer.
This is not the first time the fans, and those of Gor have been found culpable of misbehaving during matches, with questions raised on why they never get the heavy punishment that can deter them from such acts.
The two teams’ fans have in the past been banned from using the venue as a result of similar incidences.
