Mr Steve Vicker also claimed in an affidavit on Monday that Haji, then working as an intelligence officer, stole Sh2 million from him during an anti-narcotic raid in 2017, reports the Standard.

The flamboyant businessman is fighting to clear his name over narcotics trade at the coastal city of Mombasa and now wants Mr Haji to be charged for allegedly stealing from him.

Through lawyer Kinyua Kamunde , Mr Vicker claimed that the DPP, who took over from Mr Keriako Tobiko in 2018, forcefully took the keys to his car before taking the money.

“I accuse Mr Noordin Haji and Hamisi Salim Masha of jointly stealing Sh2,100,000,” testified Mangira who also added that the future DPP “pointed a gun at my head and conducted a search on my person.”

"Lawyer Kinyua Kamunde explained that after the search at the reception, Haji demanded his client’s car keys and forcefully took it away against his wishes before proceeding to the car park where his car was."

The allegations comes at the time Mr Haji, a son to Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji, is facing pressure from the public over slow prosecution of cases in courts.

Mr Haji assumed office in 2018 and seemed to have won public confidence after pursuing high profile graft cases among them the murder case of Migori Governor Okoth Obado and tax evasion charges facing DCJ Philomena Mwilu.

The new twist in court could ignite sharp public reactions and perhaps sabotage Mr Haji's determination in prosecuting high profile cases.
