Shadrack Kioko, an Administration Police officer was jailed for three years when he appeared in Makueni Law Courts on Thursday.

Kioko was found guilty of being involved in a gun drama at Makueni County Assembly premises where several people sustained injuries on September 23, 2014.

He was among three other police officers who were charged over the shooting incident.

The three, Lumbu Musyoka (security officer to immediate former Kaiti MP Richard Makenga), Francis Daido (bodyguard to then Majority Leader Francis Mutuku) and Ndunda Muthoka (security officer to then Makueni County Assembly Speaker Francis Daido) were freed by the court following the incident.

While delivering the ruling in the case against Kioko, Senior Principal Magistrate James Mwaniki, said the accused opened fire and mercilessly hurt the people at the assembly who had accompanied the incumbent Governor Kivutha Kibwana.

During the incident, the bodyguard shot and injured Brian Mutua.

The other bodyguards were freed because they had opened fire to disperse the crowd at the assembly.

The ruling was made within 10-minutes after which Kioko was sent to jail.
