Many Kenyans were on Tuesday night caught by surprise during the 9PM bulletin by a headline by NTV editors.
Screenshots of the news headline by NTV are making rounds on social media leaving many in laughter over the choice of words in the headline ‘Kanini Fingers Duale’.
The headline was used during a bulletin on the rejection of a parliamentary committee report probing the sugar importation scandal.
Kenyans online were quick to question the use of the word ‘finger’ with some accusing NTV editors of probably watching a lot of pornography.
Kenyans might have however misunderstood the context in which the “finger” was used but according to the Cambridge English Dictionary, when the word finger is used a verb, it means telling on someone or informing on someone to the authorities.
Mr Kanini Kega, the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives had accused Garissa Township MP Aden Duale who is also the National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale together with Minority Leader John Mbadi of being behind the decision by MPs to throw out the sugar report.
Here are some reactions from Kenyans online:
