Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has called for further probe into the Sh21 billion dams scandal that has rocked the Jubilee administration.
Khalwale questioned how Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich could have single-handedly managed to pay the billions to the contractors without following the government financial procedures.
The vocal politician argued that Rotich would have consulted permanent secretaries and President Uhuru Kenyatta before making the payments.
“It can’t be true that CS Rotich singularly paid out all these billions of shillings in the said dams scandals, all against government financial procedures and regulations without reference to & without the approval of the PS, the Cabinet & the President. We demand full disclosure,” he tweeted on Wednesday.
Rotich on Tuesday and Wednesday appeared before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kiambu to shed more light in the alleged loss of Sh21 billion in the Kimwarer and Arrom dam projects in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The alleged misuse of public funds has ignited a war of words between Deputy President William Ruto and opposition chief Raila Odinga.
Raila has insisted that the second in command should come clean over the scandals linked to his office. On his part, Ruto has denied claims that funds were lost in the said projects.
