Addressing media in Nakuru on Wednesday, the residents led by Joseph Malel said it was ill adviced to transfer the Director Arbe Bashuna from the procurement department to Lands.Bashuna is said to have been given transfer letter at night a decision that locals have raised questions about. Her position has been taken by a Nancy Kimemia who once served as Director in the pyrethrum sector.According to Malel, it was wrong for Kimemia to take the position yet her track record while at pyrethrum sector is ‘questionable’.The residents now want the office of the DPP and EACC to step in and investigate Kimemia over corruption claims.“We know very well that Pyrethrum sector failed while Ms Nancy Kimemia was the director of procurement, then why is it that she has been given the procurement sector in county government? We are calling on Governor Kinyanjui to come out clear on this. We are also calling on the DPP and EACC to investigate her track record,” said Malel.Similar sentiments were echoed by Nakuru youth caucus chairman Daniel Kimani Gitau who said the youths will not tolerate corrupt cartels to operate within the county government of Nakuru.“Bashuna has been firm in her office when it comes to matters of fighting corrupt cartels and as leaders, we are demanding that she be restored back to the Procurement Department and within 48 hours Ms Kimemia should be out of Procurement Department,” said Kimani.
