Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has condemned attack waged on two Standard Group just and their driver on Monday in Machakos.

Taking to his twitter account, the Ford Kenya party leader termed the act as inhumane and urged law enforcement agencies to take an action.

“The attack on Standard journalists while on duty in Machakos is an act of culpable criminality that must not only be condemned but the perpetrators brought to book. A threat to journalists is a threat to freedom,” said Moses Wetangula

The attack took place at St Stephens Girls Secondary School where they had gone to follow up on a case of a girl who went missing from the school in March. 

However, the school principal declined to give them an interview before allegedly inciting students against them.

Ms Carol Bii, Mr Bonnie Kirera and their driver sustained serious injuries during the incident. More so, their car was burned and a camera worth Sh.2.5 million destroyed. 

The Media Council of Kenya has come out to condemn this incidence. 

"While it is within the right of the school leadership to decline media interviews, it is against the las for anyone to incite and attack journalists who were in their line of duty," read the statement from the Media Council of Kenya.

The journalist were adviced to report this matter at the nearest police station. 

"We urge that the police to expedite investigations into the unfortunate incident and bring th4e culprits to book," said Media Council of Kenya Chief Executive officer David Omwoyo.
