Security has been beefed up in the North Eastern Town of Garissa following the latest terrorist attack in Nairobi.
In the town, a number of armored police vehicles are seen patrolling the various roads to ensure nothing goes amiss.
The situation is no different at the Garissa University.
Anyone getting into the institution is required to produce a national identification card after which one is subjected to strict inspection by individuals from private security firms together with uniformed police officers.
According to a junior security officer who sought anonymity and is stationed at the university's main entry point, they are implementing 'orders from above' in order to prevent terrorist attacks as witnessed in the past.
The male security guard further hinted that so far, the operation has been going well disclosing that not a single suspicious element had been nabbed.
In the 2015 Garissa attack, at least 147 students and tutors perished in an early morning attack that Al-Shabaab militants later claimed responsibility for.
Since then, a raft of security measures was put in place, and among them was erecting watch towers at strategic points to aid surveillance.
