A sombre mood engulfed Bonyansiaga village, Etora in Sameta in Kisii County on Monday after a pregnant woman hanged herself under unclear circumstances.
Confirming the shocking incident area assistant chief Esther Bochere said the deceased identified as Kwamboka was six months pregnant.
"The deceased according to her husband who is a painter didn't show any signs of trouble. She was left alone in the house by her husband who went to work only for her body to be discovered dangling from the roof of their house in bedroom," said the chief.
Bochere said the deceased had no bad record in the village.
"She has been a hardworking and jovial woman. Her death has left us in shock given that she was pregnant," she noted.
The administrator assured that probe has commenced to establish the reasons which led the late to take her own life.
"Some people bewitching others so that they can hang themselves must stop before the law catches up with them," she stated.
Bochere noted that the deceased body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
