During the meeting, the MPs asked how six companies were given the tenders to supply sanitary towels to school girls. According to the MPs, the six companies did not present the lowest bids but were awarded the tenders.

The allocation of the tender to the six companies led to a loss of Sh25 million.

One of the companies awarded the tender, Konyipad Construction was linked to Kipsang.

According to the MPs, Konyipad Construction shares the same address with another company in Eldoret, Belion Construction which is linked to the PS.

This called for investigations into the two companies. PS Kipsang was directed to provide documents showing the directors of the company.

This matter was brought to the attention of the meeting by Mavoko MP Patrick Makau.

“How come two companies -Konyipad and Belion Construction - share the same address and box number?” asked Makau.

The companies awarded the tender by the Ministry of Education are; Konyipad Construction, Nexhom Africa, Hossib Investments, Paula Services and Rossaby Enterprises.

The Auditor-General accused the Ministry of Education of awarding the tenders to the six companies irregularly saying it broke the Public Procurement Asset and Disposal Act.
