Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and his Starehe counterpart Charles Njagua on Wednesday appeared before a disciplinary committee for disrupting peace when they engaged in a fist fight in October last year inside Parliament Buildings.
The National Assembly Powers and Privilege Committee mandated with discipline is chaired by Speaker Justin Muturi.
After an extended closed-door session with the two first-time legislators, the committee is expected to make its delibarations for the incident.
Before the drama that rocked social media last year, Mr Njagua is said to have asked Babu to stop insulting the presidency after allegations emerged that Babu referred to Uhuru as ‘mtoto wa mbwa’ (puppy).
But the two flamboyant leaders appeared to be best of friends when they walked out of the disciplinary session.
Jaguar appealed to the committee to pardon them while citing the historic handshake between President Uhuru and Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Match 9.
“We have told the committee to pardon us in the spirit of handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga," revealed Jaguar.
The duo attributed the fistfight to the high political temperatures then.
This was after the nullification of President Uhuru 's victory by the Supreme Court. The apex court of Kenya ordered for a fresh, free and fair election but it was boycotted by the opposition outfit, NASA.
“We told them that the fight was occasioned by heated political temperatures countrywide and we would henceforth engage well as lawmakers," said Babu.
In the recent State of the Nation Address in Parliament, Babu walked to the President and shook his hand as they smiled and burst into laughter. The two seem to have buried the hatchet.
