The Government has ordered immediate repatriation of Kenya Prisons Women volleyball team that is taking part in Africa club championship in Cairo, Egypt.
PS for State Department for Correctional Services Mrs Zeinab Hussein says they are not aware of the trip.
In a press statement released by the PS Thursday afternoon in response to the Media reports of the suffering the team is undergoing in Egypt, Zeinab stated that they only learnt of the team's trip through the media.
''Our attention has been drawned to a media article that the Kenya Women Prisons Service Volleyball team is in disstress in Cairo, Egypt'' says the PS.
"The State Department for Correctional Services neither clears nor financed the team travel to Cairo and was surprised to learn its presence outside the Country.''
She further regretted the actions taken saying the team was not supposed to be away.
''Whist the Government acknowledges the and supports Sports as one of the many sources of our National pride, we regret this turn of events, which has caused the people of Kenya undue embarrassment,'' she stated.
He however blamed lack of protocol involved in the trip and ordered them to return tonight.
'' Given the breach of protocol and the contravention of rules regarding public servants travel overseas , the Governmnt has immediately organised for their repatriation tonight,'' she added.
