Homabay Town Member of Parliament Opondo Kaluma has finally opened up about his relationship with Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti.
The two have been seen to be close since 2013.
Speaking on Saturday, the youthful lawmaker said that apart from their friendship, most people do not know that they are actually blood relatives.
"Awiti is not only a friend but also a blood relative. This is something we have not been talking about a lot publicly," said MP Kaluma on Saturday morning.
The vocal parliamentarian was speaking in an interview on Radio Nam Lolwe which airs its programmes in the Dholuo language.
However, he noted that their relationship will not prevent him from faulting the county boss whenever he veers off track, with regards to his roles at the helm of the county.
Kaluma also cleared the air on claims he is eyeing the governor's seat in the forthcoming 2022 general elections, as Awiti will be retiring having served the maximum two terms.
"I don't have any gubernatorial plans for 2022 for now," he said.
