Is Gtaundu South MP Moses Kuria fashioning himself into Mt Kenya’s political kingpin? That is the question political pundits are asking themselves as they monitor Kuria’s moves.
“He is fashioning himself into something, in politics everything is in design,” Njuge Kiragu, an analyst, told this writer on Thursday.
The vocal MP made a triumphant entry in the volatile Likia area in Njoro.
He came in a chopper before he jumped into a V8 and toured the area where two communities clashed recently.
The legislator was in the company of area MP Charity Kathambi who is also Deputy President William Ruto’s ally.
The warm welcome he received in the area, despite several political figures in the country having launched a scathing attack against him after he also ‘attacked’ President Uhuru Kenyatta, points to growing political clout.
Kuria was in Njoro to attend the burial of a young man killed during a theft incident which a certain politician from the region had insinuated that it was a 'tribal attack'.
The politician has since been summoned by DCI officers to write a report.
"Today I joined Hon Charity Kathambi (Njoro) and the people of Likia in Mau Narok, Njoro, Nakuru County for the burial of Jathan Kungu who lost his life in the recent skirmishes in Likia area. I assured the residents that as leaders we will ensure that those who took away Kungu’s life will be hunted down and they will face the full force of the law," Kuria said.
He told off politicians who want to milk political capital out of the incident.
