Nyamoko said Matiang’i should not succumb to threats by cartels who are engaging in dubious dealings in this country.

“Matiang’i is doing a commendable job but some politicians are not happy about him. If anything bad happens to him, politicians who have been talking ill of Matiang’i will be held accountable,” he said.

The Jubilee MP said elected leaders should step up efforts and ensure cartels engaging in illicit trade are arrested and prosecuted.

“Illegal trade must be fought to an end without threatening anyone. As leaders who have been elected to represent our people we must be ready to fight cartels who are out to sell fake products such as contraband sugar to innocent people in deep villagers,” he noted.

He said the Gusii community leaders are behind Matiang’i in the fight against illegal trade.
