Migori senatorial aspirant Eddy Oketch has poked holes into claims making rounds that he is being sponsored by Deputy President William Ruto.
Oketch of the Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) has also dissociated his campaigns with the Deputy President, maintaining that he is independent.
He urged Migori residents to shun the claims which he relegated to mere propaganda.
"The people of Migori should close their ears to propaganda being peddled by my opponents,” he was quoted by the Citizen Digital.
This follows earlier remarks by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader Hassan Joho who has claimed that Ruto was behind Oketch's bid.
Speaking when he led the campaigns for ODM's candidate Ochilo Ayacko in parts of the county on Monday, the Mombasa Governor said that the race is now between ODM chief Raila Odinga and Ruto.
"The Migori senate race is a battle between Raila Odinga and the deputy president who is trying to raid the opposition’s political backyard through the Federal party candidate,” he was quoted by the publicaation.
This as well comes amid claims that the youthful aspirant is as well drawing some of his support from area Governor Okoth Obado who has since fallen out with the opposition party.
The seat fell vacant following the death of Ben Oluoch Okello in June, with the repeat set for October 8.
