Angry residents have closed down a Ministry of Repentance and Holiness Church in Nandi.
The residents stormed the church and ejected worshippers on Sunday as they accused the church of breaking families.
The Star reported that up to 100 residents were involved in closing down the Kaptoroi alter.
One of the residents accused the church of ‘brainwashing’ women to an extent that they have neglected their homes.
“This church is creating separation of families because mostly those won by the doctrines are women. Men can no longer tolerate it, and we can’t let families break,” Julius Sigei said.
The dramatic turn of events saw worshippers at the church scamper for safety as the protestors locked the church.
“All these members do is concentrate on church affairs and nothing else. They do not till land or take care of families, they are crazy about church things. We cannot allow this brainwashing,” another protestor said.
The church’s leaders faulted the move and warned that those who participated in closing the shop will ‘see fire soon’.
“We have broken no law for anyone to subject us onto this kind of ridicule. Why are we being persecuted by villagers who don’t recognize the existence of God?” a church leader said.
The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness is led by Mighty Prophet Dr David Owuor.
