A suspected boda boda thief has been killed by angry residents in Borangi village, Nyatieko Location, Kisii County when he attempted to steal a bike from a resident.

According to area Chief Mr Lawrence Omari, the middle-aged man identified as Abel Ogembo was among the three who attacked a residential home of one boda boda rider in the area on Monday night where they attempted to escape with his motorbike.

"They poured water near the door, made a hole and managed to open the door. When the owner woke up from sleep, he met the three in the house trying to push out his bike. He started screaming and they hit him with a knife but was not seriously injured."

"Residents heard the scream and ran to the home, two escaped but they managed to hold on one who they attacked and beat him to death," said Omari.

The identification card of the deceased indicates he hails from Baasi Borabu in Nyacheki Kisii County. Another identification card holding the name Isaiah Ratemo was also found at the scene.

The body has been taken out of the scene to a morgue by the police investigations commence.
