In what appears to be a clear rebellion against Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ukambani governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) snubbed his 'goat eating' meeting in Yatta, Machakos County on Tuesday.
The trio never showed up for the meeting attended by top politicians, businessmen, opinion leaders, and the clergy.
Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana said he couldn't attend the meeting since he wasn't invited.
"I was not invited and I had no business of attending, " Kibwana who doubles as Wiper party chairman told the Daily Nation.
Kibwana is staring at a possible ouster from the party over allegations of frustrating Kalonzo's 2022 presidential ambition.
A section of Wiper politicians led by former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama wants Kibwana kicked out.
Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu also said she was not invited to the meeting.
Addressing the press in Kitui town on Wednesday, Ngilu said she was neither aware of the meeting nor its agenda.
It is not clear on whether Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua received an invitation to attend the same meeting.
According to Kalonzo, he invited all politicians, clergy, businessmen, friends and opinion leaders to the the meeting.
Political analyst Peter Ngure says it is clear that Kalonzo is facing a rebellion in Ukambani.
Ngure notes that the former Vice President needs to stamp his authority as the Kamba kingpin if he is serious in contesting the presidential sit in the next polls.
Kalonzo, has however, denied facing a rebellion in Ukambani.
