A video of the late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso celebrating her last birthday on 21st November 2018 has surfaced online.
In the video, the county boss arrived at her office without knowledge that the members of the county team were planning to surprise.
To her amazement, Laboso asked them what was transpiring at the office before she saw a birthday cake and flowers all over the office. She could not hide her smile as she made her way into the office on that day.
The governor is all-smiles as she cuts the cake little did she know that she will not live to celebrate another birthday. In the video, it is evident that Laboso lived life to the fullest before she succumbed to cancer.
Her husband, Edwin Abonyo has eulogised her as a pillar of strength and promised to stand with the family.
He also revealed that the father of the governor was against their marriage but he stood the test of time to settle down with her.
He also said that the doctors revealed that he could no longer give birth after she was diagnosed with the disease. He made the remarks during her burial in Fort Tenan, Koru of Kisumu County.
"I remember when I wanted to marry Joyce, the father was opposed to her being married to an ‘outsider’, " he said.
"I could have given up had it not been for my mother in law who is now deceased," he said.
