The officer seconded to Lukumek Police Station accidentally crossed a chang'aa den where locals were enjoying themselves was met with arrows from the homestead owner, who thought they had gone to arrest him.

Confirming this incident on Monday, Chepalungu Sub-County police boss Nelson Masai said that the officer in question was headed to collect a witness in the area who was to testify in court on Monday.

On their way to the home of the witness, their vehicle got stuck in the mud forcing him to walk when one of the revellers alerted the owner of the homestead and he reacted by shooting arrows at the officer and his colleagues.

“On seeing the officers, the residents started screaming… it is then that one of the men that reside in the homestead went into the house, took out a bow and arrow and shot at the officers,” said the police boss.

Police have since launched manhunt for him.
