1. Eliud Kipchoge
Kipchoge was born on 5th November 1984. The 34-year-old marathon runner is the latest Kenyan to give the nation international glory. He set a world record by breaking the under 2hours marathon barrier during the INEOS159 Challenge on Saturday after running a 42-kilometres race in 1hr 59min 40sec.
The great actress is another Kenyan who has placed the country on the global map. The daughter of Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang' Nyong'o in 2014 won the prestigious Oscar Award.
3. Wangari Maathai
The late environmentalist Wangari Maathai is another individual who made Kenya in international glory. This is after she became the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Price in 2004. Her triumph was contributed by her contribution to sustainable development, democracy, and peace.
4. Teacher Peter Tabichi
Teacher Tabichi won the 2019 Global Teacher Prize. He has had the privilege of meeting US President Donald Trump among other influential personalities.
5. McDonald Mariga
In March 2010, Mariga became the first Kenyan to play in the UEFA Champions League. He was introduced into the game as a late substitute against Chelsea.
