Garissa Township MP Aden Duale is the man to watch today as Parliament makes another attempt to marshal members to vote and pass the two-thirds gender rule bill.
Duale is expected to table the Gender Bill in the House today afternoon for voting.
It will be the fourth time the bill is being tabled after it failed in previous three attempts.
As National Assembly Majority Leader, Duale is confident that MPs will pass the Bill this time round.
“I am going to do my best to ensure the gender rule is passed by MPs,” Duale told journalists at his Parliament office on Tuesday.
The Garissa MP says he has directed party whips to lobby and sent text messages to members to attend the afternoon session.
The two-thirds gender legislation requires support of 233 MPs to sail through.
There is intense lobbying among female MPs who want their male counterpart to support the Bill.
As MPs prepare for the vote, there are some who have vowed to vote against the gender rule.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and his Kimilili counterpart Didmus Barasa have made it clear that they will not vote for the bill.
