Former Kisii County Senator Chris Obure has appealed to Governor James Ongwae to serve residents in the county.
Obure noted that Ongwae is moving slowly in delivering services to residents in the area yet his time to leave office is fast approaching.
The vocal ex-ODM senator argued that despite Ongwae's administration collecting tax from traders especially those operating at Kisii town's main market, Daraja Mbili market, nothing is being done to improve the state of the market.
"Daraja Mbili market has poor drainage systems and the rainwater is hindering the operations of our traders at the market. Let Ongwae set up proper drainage systems in the market to ensure the free flow of water to avoid flooding," he said.
Speaking on Monday at the market, Obure wondered why Ongwae's government continues to collect taxes from residents, adding that no tangible development projects are being implemented.
He noted that the people of Kisii County deserve development and not handouts.
"Ongwae's time to leave office is approaching and he needs to stop being sluggish. Before the modern Daraja Mbili market is complete, I'm urging the governor to help traders construct temporary modern business stalls so that they can continue operating their businesses during this rainy season," said Obure.
