President Uhuru Kenyatta reshuffled Cabinet as the war against graft gains momentum.
The head of State fired Sports Cabinet Rashid Achesa in a move that has already elicited mixed reactions from different factions.
Achesa has not been in good terms with African Union’s High Representative for Infrastructure Development Raila Odinga.
On August 5, 2018 Achesa said that he cannot call Raila baba for reasons best known to himself.
He also said that he is ready to leave office but he cannot respect the Luo political kingpin.
“If I am ejected from Cabinet. I am ready to come back home. This is where I belong. But I want to tell Raila Odinga that with or without that Cabinet position, the Luhya community is fed up with him. Leave us alone,” he said.
The handshake between Raila and Uhuru seems to haunt Achesa.
The former CS remained adamant even as leaders urged him to leave Raila alone.
The CS has been a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.
He kept on launching endless attacks against Raila even after President Kenyatta urged his team not to engage in politics at the expense of the development.
The firing of the CS could shift political gears ahead of the 2022 Presidential.
The reshuffling of the cabinet comes at a time when Uhuru has announced to crack a whip on corrupt officials in his government for better service delivery.
