Sometimes, when a politician like Garissa Township MP Duale completely ‘disappears’ from the political scene, that silence should not just be taken lightly.
At his best, the vocal MP dictates the tempo of Kenyan politics. But today, the former Dujis MP has taken a completely different approach to politics. Perhaps it is a strategy to elongate his stay in the murky world of Kenyan politics.
Ordinarily, the National Assembly Majority leader is Deputy President’s wing-man, ready to defend the Dr. Ruto at whichever political cost.
As such, his silence when the DP is currently under immense pressure over his alleged opposition to the war on corruption is what is making Kenyans ask themselves many unanswered questions.
Is the silence a strategy to keep his current lucrative government position very secure ? Does he fear for his job should he come out guns blazing to defend the DP?
As National Assembly Majority leader, the Garissa Township MP, a veteran in Kenyan harsh politics, is the third most powerful person in government.
So, to survive especially as Jubilee Party becomes polluted, Duale must play it safe. And one such way is to ensure that he is not seen to be opposing the President in his anti-graft war.
A simple mistake by Duale might cost him his coveted job. As such, safety first approach is the way to go.
