Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has once again called upon his Western Kenya backyard to rally behind Deputy President William Ruto in his 2022 presidential bid.
Ruto has shown all indications of being in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, Khalwale being his latest catch as he seeks to win the Luhyaland vote.
Speaking in Vihiga on Sunday, Khalwale said that the future of the region is secure with the DP as its choice for the race, claiming that he is ready to give them the Deputy President slot.
He also once again rubbished the bids of Amani National Congress (ANC) boss Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula, urging the region to wholly rally behind the DP for guaranteed benefits.
"Ruto is here to seek political friendships that will give us development and ensure we are in government. Wetang'ula and Mudavadi should tell us who will help them form the government," he was quoted by the Nation.
Khalwale spoke when he accompanied Ruto for the 70th-anniversary celebrations of the African Divine Church at Boyani.
The former Kakamega gubernatorial aspirant has since dropped his initial hostility towards the DP, and recently left his position as the Ford Kenya Deputy Party Leader and joined Jubilee.
