A man in Bosongo location in Kisii County has shocked villagers after he eloped with his ex-girlfriend abandoning his wife and their 7-month-old son.
Ayienda Mokaya area chief confirmed the incident on Thursday.
The administrator said the 29-year-old man, Ronald Mabuka eloped with his ex-girlfriend Christine Kemunto.
"Mabuka married his wife Jane Kwamboka three years ago and they have been blessed with a son who is now seven months old. His wife reported that her husband failed to return home on Monday evening from work within Kisii town where he works as a barber," said the chief.
Mokaya said a search was launched since it was suspected that the man might have been attacked by criminals as he returned home late at night.
"Together with community policing officials we have searched for the man since Monday. We were shocked to find the man in a rental house at Jogoo area where he is living with the ex-girlfriend," said Mokaya.
He wondered why the man could run away from his wife and their young son.
The man was arrested and taken to Kisii Police Station from where the chief said he will be taken to court to be charged with child negligence.
According to the chief, the man's wife has no job to provide for the child.
