In January, President Uhuru Kenyatta, through and execute order, empowered Dr Matiang'i to monitor, supervise and communicate state of government projects.

Accompanied by Health CS Cicily Kariuki and Roads counterpart James Macharia, Matiang'i who visited various government projects in Embu, insisted that he will perform his duties diligently.

"Earlier today, inspecting the Civil Servants Housing project in Embu West Sub-County. Later, I led a delegation from the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee to the Embu level 5 referral Hospital for the inspection  of the CT Scan Unit," he wrote on Twitter.

He added: "We also inspected a section of the Embu Ring Road at Kathangariri, Embu North sub-county. We are fully committed to overseeing the timely delivery of development projects and programmes as directed by H.E. @UKenyatta."

The trip comes days after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria accused the state of allegedly sidelining Mt Kenya region in development, a claim which was dismissed by Uhuru.

It is also the first time Matiang'i was leading his committee to the ground to physically inspect projects with the aim of ensuring they are completed in time as part of Uhuru's agenda.
