In an interview on Radio Citizen's Mjadala Wa Citizen Wednesday morning, the party leader Moses Wetangula said that Khalwale had already been dethroned.

He said that the party has delegated the vocal former lawmaker's roles to party Secretary General Eseli Simiyu, after Khalwale shifted his allegiance to Deputy President William Ruto.

"Our Secretary General Eseli Simiyu has taken over his roles as he has demonstrated beyond doubt that he is no longer with us and has crossed over to the other side," he said.

Khalwale has been severally heard endorsing Ruto's pending presidential bid for 2022, and has been attending his rallies and functions, especially in Western Kenya.

The Bungoma Senator now says that Khalwale is free to move over to the Jubilee Party deputy leader's side.

"He seems to have found a new friend in Ruto and we wish him all the best with that," he added.

However, he said that Ford Kenya had nominated a team of lawmakers to give Khalwale an ear in the event that he will be willing to explain himself and why he should not be expelled from the bloc.
