Speaking on Radio Jambo Monday evening, the lawmaker pledged his backing for the proposed referendum seeking to reduce elective seats.

The youthful leader also supported the possible merger of some constituencies and counties should the bid succeed, in a bid to reduce the high expenditure courtesy of maintaining their holders.

The same, however, he said will see his constituency merged with the neighbouring Tongaren.

He declared his willingness and readiness to face off with Tongaren lawmaker Eseli Simiyu in the event that they land in the same constituency.

"Iwapo kuunganisha Kimilili na Tongaren ndiko kutampunguzia mkenya mzigo basi na iwe hivyo (if merging the two will be the remedy then let it be)," he said.

"Niko tayari kumenyana na Eseli Simiyu na akinishinda Niko tayari kumuunga mkono (I am ready to battle it out with Eseli for the seat and to concede if defeated)," added the ruling Jubilee Party ally.

Two established groups have since proposed the changes, one side being the former Presidential hopeful Ekuru Aukot-led Third Way Alliance.

On the other side is the opposition chef Raila Odinga-led side which wants the expansion of the executive to accommodate more leaders.
