Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has distanced himself from reports linking him to a team associated to DP William Ruto's campaigns popularly known as Team Tanga Tanga.
So fast is the team's influence spreading that almost all 15MPs from Kisii and Nyamira Counties are part of it. Only Senators Sam Ongeri, Okong'o Mogeni and Woman Representative Janet Ong'era are not part of it.
But the Wiper MP who is serving his second term, says 'he doesn't know that the hell is Tanga Tanga', adding that he has always made his way through without toxic politics.
"What the hell is Tanga Tanga? Kindly spare me. I just read such realignments on paper. I hear some of my colleagues are part of it but I really don't know what's all about," said Momanyi in an interview on Saturday.
Mr Momanyi is the only MP elected on a wiper ticket for two consecutive terms in the entire Western Kenya region. He had decamped ODM for Wiper in 2013 polls.
The soft spoken legilator said he supports the Building Bridges Initiative but asked the committee to consider bringing every Kenyan on board. He also revealed how he has been a victim of toxic politics.
"In 2017, the entire Jubilee brigade camped in my constituency just rolled kick me out. I am happy that now we are working together. Let the Building Bridges Initiative narrow the gap in toxic political environment," said Momanyi, who has just landed from Saudi Arabia.
Dr Ruto is keen to dislodge Mr Raila Odinga from the vote rich Gusii region which could be having over 1.4 million voters in 2022. He has made 20 trips to the region in one year.
