A calamity has befallen a family where 2 kids died after consuming poison on Tuesday evening at Mwanyamwange, Taracha, Kenyenya in Kisii County.
The family spokesman, Raphael Nyang’au said the kids who were in class 3 and 4 respectively arrived home from school, picked a bottle of poison and drunk under unclear circumstances.
“The kids didn’t show any signs of stress when they left school. They arrived from school on Tuesday took their lunch with their mother who later left for the farm,” he said.
Nyang’au said a neighbor who saw the minors with the bottle of poison alerted residents who arrived and rushed to minors to Kenyenya sub-county hospital but it was too late since they were pronounced dead on arrival.
Maureen Sarange, the minor’s mother said she didn’t quarrel with them.
“I am in shock why my children could decide to take their own life but God knows why. Let them rest in peace,” she said in tears.
Lawrence Gichana, area pastor said the kids may have been attacked by evil spirits to commit suicide. Gichana called on residents to dedicate their lives to God for curb calamities.
