Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua is among top politicians who are eyeing to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 general election.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader argues that he has what it takes to take over from president Uhuru in 2022.
Governor Mutua says that his bid for 2022 presidency is anchored on spearheading development with focus on putting money in Kenyans pockets.
Mutua blames corruption and tribalism for high levels of poverty in the country.
Governor Mutua's bid for presidency is however not an easy venture and he needs to strategize well to make an impact.
Here are three things the Machakos Governor must to do in order ascend to the presidency in 2022.
1. Financial muscle
The Machakos Governor must be ready to spend on his presidential campaigns.
Presidential campaigns need alot of financing and resources and for him (Mutua) to make an impact he has to pull the resources.
2. Market his agenda
Governor Mutua must also employ workable strategies on how he will reach out to Kenyans in terms of selling his agenda and vision.
The Machakos Governor must also ensure that his agenda and manifesto appeals to Kenyans.
Mutua has been quoted saying that fighting poverty would be his number one priority should he ascend to power in 2022.
3. Seek partnership
Governor Mutua's presidential bid is likely to hit a snag if he does not partner with other famous like-minded politicians.
It will be diffucult for the Machakos governor to win the presidency if goes for it alone.
Mutua needs the numbers and to get the numbers (votes) he must approach leaders from other regions.
Governor Mutua should consider signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with other politicians and agree on how to approach and win the presidency.
Mutua has not ruled out working with other politicians.
There are claims Mutua could partner with Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
4. Ukambani unity
Mutua must seek to bring together Kamba leaders and residents if he is serious on contesting the presidency in 2022.
The Machakos governor cannot ascend to power when his hometurf of Ukambani is sharply divided.
Ukambani is currently divided on who to support between Mutua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Mutua must reach out to the likes of Kalonzo to rally and market his presidential bid.
