Kisumu soccer fans and the entire football fraternity has been met by the shocking death of Kisumu All-Starlets team member James Oduor Cobra.
The sports journalist and football player died in the deadly Riverside attack at DusitD2 hotel that began on Tuesday afternoon.
Oduor who was to celebrate his birthday today was caught up in the attack and was confirmed dead amidst operations to secure the place.
Led by Kenya Football Federation president Nick Mwendwa soccer fans have mourned "Otike" describing him as a talented footballer with the great passion for the game and bright future.
Through his tweet, Mwendwa described the footballer as a personal friend who played his part in raising the standards of soccer.
The county government of Kisumu regretted the loss saying the death is a loss to the sports fraternity and Kisumu county a whole.
Manchester United Kenya Team also shared the saddening news of his demise describing him as a player at the club.
Sports journalists Mike Okinyi on his twitter handle said of Oduor as a hero who did his best and will forever be remembered.
The attacked, according to the statement by the president has so far claimed 14 lives since yesterday.
