It has been a week since boda boda riders and some villagers blocked the Kisii-Oyugis road, another hot demonstration emerged as angry youths blocked the Kisii-Miruka-Kisumu road.
They claimed that the road is in a pathetic condition and amid their cries claiming that it is messy, the relevant authorities have not taken it seriously.
They, therefore, resorted to blocking the road perhaps their cries will be heard. Hotel owners along the roads were forced to close down their businesses due to the dust that is affecting their operations.
"Let the roads be closed down. Perhaps the relevant authorities will hear our cries and do what is needed," Willis Onduso a hotel owner said.
"I have been selling vegetables here for the last three years. But now it has become impossible. As soon as I bring out the vegetables from the sacks, they are embedded with a lot of dust and no one can buy dusty vegetables. Let it be blocked," Gladys Otieno a vegetable vendor said.
"We have been crying over the same for a while now. I hate the fact that nothing has been done for years now. I once saw some Chinese surveying, but since then the road is still messy,” Charles Okemwa a boda boda rider said.
Those traveling to Kisumu via the route were forced to use a different route as the road was blocked. However, this is not the first time boda boda riders are demonstrating over the same road but nothing has since been done.
