The workshop majorly targeted data collectors and supervisors in readiness for countywide social mapping exercise set to commence later this month.

In a statement issued by the county's press unit, the county government clarified that the training was in partnership with the Ministry of Health and UNICEF.

"The county government is working in partnership with the National Ministry of Health and UNICEF to conduct social mapping exercise on nomadic population settlements and other points of interest," read the statement in part.

Speaking during the forum, County Executive Committee member for Health Ahmednadhir Omar revealed that the county government had done much in reducing deaths brought about by communicable diseases, noting that the county would not relent in the bid.

"As a county, we have done our best in reducing mortality deaths. We will not relent in the cause to provide quality healthcare to our residents," Ahmednadhir stated.

Since the advent of Devolution, Garissa as a county has recorded significant progress in health care provision to its residents.

On a number of occasions, the health department has been conducting sensitization programmes.
