Garissa police boss Mr Aron Moriasi now says that one Victor Kiprotich, the University student who had been reported missing is not in any of the police stations or cells in Garissa.

"I am afraid the missing student is not in any of our cells or police stations in Garissa. The search is ongoing and we promise to give more information as soon as we get," said the police boss.

Explaining the events that preceded the apparent disappearance of Kiprotich, Moriasi said the second year student had gone out of the university premises unaccompanied on Monday evening.

He further disclosed that the missing student had gone to the Garissa market centre to purchase vegetables, which he re-sells to colleagues on campus.

Efforts to reach Kiprotich on his phone could not bear any fruits as he had left his cell phone at his room.

The police reports contradict that of the university students who claim that Kiprotich was abducted by police officers.
