The incident occurred at the Kisumu Magistrates' Court, where the man had moved seeking the custody of his son whom he has not seen since 2016 after separating with his wife.

However, the boy had initially defied all pleas from Senior Resident Magistrate Stella Telewa to join his father during the hearing, which would take two hours, choosing to instead cling to his mother.

“The child can be handed over to the father right away and be brought back to the mother after two hours,” ruled the judge, according to the Standard.

Though the judge finally managed to convince the boy to join his father on the bench, he kept his distance, refusing to get close to him.

The man had earlier moved to the court seeking to bond with his son, claiming that he has been denied access to him by the mother.

However, the boy was again seen clinging to his mother on their way out of court immediately after the proceedings were over.
