President John Magufuli and Raila Odinga's busy itinerary precipitated to President Kenyatta's decision to cancel a trip to Nyanza.
On Friday, the three leaders were expected at Migori where they were scheduled to visit Nyatike before holding a joint rally at Municipal Stadium.
And a former NASA secretariat official, who spoke in confidence, said Raila's visit to India largely affected the Migori trip.
"He was expected to land in Nairobi on Thursday night from India but delayed a bit. This led to Uhuru's decision to cancel the trip.
"Tanzanian president is also said to have been committed elsewhere thus the decision to postpone the trip until all their diaries rhyme," added the source.
For one week now, Raila has been in India where he is said to be representing the Kenyan government.
In a statement to reporters on Thursday, Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma said Raila's latest treatment in oversees was in his capacity as former Prime Minister.
"He is a statesman and can represent government. He is former PM thus can be part of government delegation," she said, quelling rumours about Raila's role.
The trip to Migori is believed to have been organised by Raila, a close ally of Magufuli, who has been wrangling with president Uhuru lately.
And thus, his absence from the country made organisers to cancel the trip until he returns to the country.
