Embattled Citizen TV anchor Jacque Maribe now says domestic wrangles precipitated Joseph Irungu's decision to attempt suicide.
The couple have been locked by detectives after being linked to controversial murder of Monica Kimani, a businesswoman at Kilimani estate.
And in her latest confession to the police, reports the Standard, Ms. Maribe has given a blow by blow account on her alleged cold relationship with her fiance on the eve of the alleged murder
In her statement, Ms. Maribe says that on the fateful day, Irungu had been looking for her the whole day, only to find her at Westlands around 2am on Thursday, perhaps several hours after the murder.
At Club Forty40, Irungu, who was in a company of seven, confronted security officers and later joined Maribe at the table. After quarreling, the two headed home.
With their domestic duel escalating, Maribe recalls, the two also met at a club in Kilimani on September 21 and had a quarrel again.
“They left their table as if to talk outside, but they did not come back,” said another witness.
It is after the duel that Irungu, who was in possession of a firearm, is said to have attempted suicide at Maribe's house.
Few minutes later, explains Marive, Irungu walked to Brian Kasaine's house and asked him to pick his firearm.
However, Maribe does not give further details on why they were in a persistent domestic brawl, just four months into their courtship.
Police have linked Mr. Irungu to Monica Kimani's murder having traced his phone at crime scene.
Ms. Maribe however, has distanced herself from the murder, insisting that she was even not in good terms with the fiancé.
