This is after the university' Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kosgey said they had deployed more police officers and improved lighting around the main campus in Kesses.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, Prof. Kosgey said his administration had given students security a priority.

"Boosted security is important for the safety of our students. Improving the lighting and having the police officers around the university will also help," he said.

The VC further pointed out that the fight against drugs on the campus was another reason they had decided to boost security.

Prof. Kosgey was recently officially instaled as Moi University VC taking over from Prof. Laban Ayiro who had served at the institution for several months on an acting capacity.

Moi University is among the oldest public institutions of higher learning in the country and offers a wide range of courses with the main campus being at Kesses, Uasin Gishu County.

The university also has two campuses in Eldoret town, School of Medicine, Nursing and Dentistry and the School of Law at Annex.
