Firebrand lawyer and politician Miguna Miguna has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta following his calls for the expedition of justice.
President Uhuru directed the National Police Service to have a web-based Occurrence Book and automation of instant fines.
"I also directed that the next step should be to have a web-based Occurrence Book and automation of instant fines," President Kenyatta tweeted.
The head of state spoke when he was handed the report on the implementation of the New Police Service Information Management System from the Interior Ministry.
However, Miguna disagreed with Uhuru's sentiments on instant justice stating that the Kenyan Constitution presumes everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
"Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, you cannot have "instant" justice because Kenya has a Constitution and laws that presume everyone accused of anything to be innocent until proven guilty through an independent and fair tribunal," Miguna said in a tweet.
The President has in the recent past called on the Judiciary to institute mechanisms that will enhance the delivery of services in the courts including expediting of cases.
