Addressing members of the press at Uhuru gardens in Nyamira town, O'mogeni said the government should ensure that locals are supplied with enough fertilizers for use in farms.

"There is this fertilizer I hear is being supplied by the government and sold at a subsidiary price to farmers and my worry is that we are not receiving enough of that here," he said.

Further, he said, maize farmers in Nyamira are being supplied with bad quality since in many occasions it does not boost germination.

"Why is it that maize seedlings being supplied to our farmers do not germinate as compared to those supplied in other parts of the country?" he asked.

Omogeni urged agriculture ministry of agriculture through the agricultural research institute KARI to study soil in Nyamira and reccomend the best seedlings for plantation.

This county heavly relies on agricultire and most of our people make a living out of agriculture that is why i am appealing to the agriculture research Institute KARI to help use identify the appropriate seedlings that can be planted by our people by studying our soils."
