The recent diplomatic wrangles between Kenya and Somalia has attracted different opinions from leaders all over the country.
The Senate Deputy speaker and Tharaka Nithi Senator Prof Kithure Kindiki has also weighed in on the topic.
The senator admitted there is a misunderstanding currently between the government of Kenya and the government of Somalia over a court case in the International Court of Justice in Hague concerning the disputed maritime land.
The Senator said he has gone through the case which the government of Somalia filed against Kenya and he is confident Kenya will win the case.
"I have looked at the case filed at the International Court of Justice in the Netherlands and I want to say without fear of contradiction that Somalia has started rumours and they are going to fail in the suit because it has no basis," the Senator said.
He observed that the law of the sea is very clear and it's in favour of Kenya.
"The law states that you cannot limit the boundaries of maritime zones 30 years after the declaration of the exclusive economic zone," added the Senator.
He asked the government to continue with the push to protect the territory.
Kindiki claimed that Kenya has been home to refugees from Somalia, the country has been under constant terrorist attack because Kenya sent soldiers to Somalia, therefore, it will be unfair and unthankful for them to create enmity and court cases.
The senator assured Kenyans that it's just a matter of time before Kenya wins the case at the International Court of Justice.
