The County government of Kilifi now wants all small-scale retailers at the Malindi Sub-county Hospital entrance to demolish their stalls with immediate effect.
The structures are allegedly making the hospital entrance chaotic and congested and causing sanitation threats to the hospital.
Dr. Evans Ogachi, the acting Malindi Sub-county Hospital medical superintendent told the press that despite posing health threats to the public, the stalls have also become a threat to the hospital's security for they have been turned into criminal hideouts.
"When they were building the shops and cafes, they did not build toilets for the public who would seek for their service to use, putting people’s health at stake. This could lead to cholera outbreak," said Ogachi on Thursday.
