Kate Muraya, a fourth-year student at Kisii University, pursuing a degree in Computer Science and an expert in IT has kept her career shining by the creation of funny memes and videos.
Kate, commonly referred to as 'Kate memes', had been repairing computers and laptops, but later gained popularity after her memes went viral around Kisii University.
Through that, she created a platform to market herself.
Speaking to hivisasa.com on Monday, she explained that she uses her creativity to ensure her services sell.
"I remember sometime back when I was broke and therefore had to use my creativity to ensure I made money. I created my first meme which was shared in various university Facebook groups and WhatsApp which saw it fly, but that did not pay. I had bigger plans for my dream," she said.
Months later after she gained popularity among the students, Kate took advantage of this to market her services.
"With my name tag portrayed on all my memes, I used the power to market my services, and that is how I attracted my customers," she said.
Her patience and loyalty to her job made her create connections where she now works online with various university students in designing posters at a fee.
"Kate memes as a brand enabled me to market my services to various campuses which are now my source of income. I design funny videos and posters for events at a fee," she said.
However, Kate has advised the youth to use their creativity in ensuring they earn clean money.
"Be patient with your talent or creativity, and it will be successful. There is no limit to getting creative in making money," she concluded.
